A punter couldn’t believe their luck after raking in more than £31,000 on the final day of the Premier League season as goals flew in around the grounds.

While all eyes might have been on Arsenal and Manchester City to see who would win the race to the Premier League title, one fan was eagerly waiting to see who would score first in games.

Eventually City would go on to seal a record-breaking fourth consecutive top-flight title much to Arsenal’s displeasure, but it was goals at Crystal Palace, Brentford, Anfield, Sheffield United and the Etihad that had one fan jumping for joy.

X user Jonah revealed they had wagered an initial £42 stake on first goalscorers in seven of Sunday’s Premier League curtain-closers.

The optimistic punt required Phil Foden, Harvey Barnes, Jean-Philippe Mateta, Alexis Mac Allister, Dejan Kulusevski, Gabriel Martinelli and Simon Adingra to score first in their respective games.

Quickly the goals started to roll in one-by-one with Foden giving the fan and City a dream start at the Etihad when he scored against West Ham after just two minutes.

He later doubled City’s lead with another well-taken finish as City closed in on the title before Rodri added a third goal in the second half.

Meanwhile, Barnes was ticked off the list as he fired Newcastle into a 21st minute lead against Brentford, with Eddie Howe’s side later completing a tense 4-2 win.

Crystal Palace talisman, Mateta, continued his recent hot form with an opening goal at Selhurst Park against a deflated Aston Villa, while Alexis Mac Allister scored the first strike at Anfield.

Dejan Kulusevski resumed his goalscoring run with a first Premier League strike since February and went on to score his second of the game late on against already-relegated Sheffield United.

However, Adingra wasn’t the first goalscorer in Brighton’s clash with Man United, while Gabriel Martinelli failed to get amongst the scorers in Arsenal’s 2-1 win over Everton.

Fortunately the punter had already cashed out after deciding to take the £31,589.05 being offered up by the bookmaker.

Later confirming how they had won, the Twitter user replied to a comment stating: ”It was 21, 5 fold bets.

‘£19,700 for the five fold that won when five had scored and I assume the extra was the potential that another of the two could still score.’
