New York Jets offensive lineman Xavier Newman has been rushed to hospital after suffering what appeared a serious neck or spinal injury in their game against the Pittsburgh Steelers.
Newman took a heavy hit midway through the third quarter and was initially unable to move his limbs as he lay motionless on the turf.
He left the game on a stretcher and is currently on his way to hospital, though NBC has since confirmed that he was able to squeeze a trainer’s hand in a positive sign for his upper extremities.
More to follow.
